Photographer vs Camera

Photographer vs Camera

What matters more - the artist or the tool?

Photographer vs Camera

After almost a decade in the industry, I’ve seen people discuss camera vs photographer dozens of times - and it’s usually consensus that the artist’s eye takes priority over fancy equipment. But how many times have you seen this actually put into practice?

Yeah there was the Michael’s challenge that showed how you can use perspective to make ordinary places look interesting, but how often do you see photographers purposefully take a downgrade for a shoot?

Probably not often.

Not often ENOUGH?

PHOTO BATTLE!!!!!

Choose your fighter:

Old smart phone

Outdated point & shoot

Disposable film camera

2 PLAYER MODE!!!

Choose your opponent (give them a fancy camera):

Husband/wife/partner

Friend

Kids

The Dog

Next: Take photos of anything you can safely accomplish without going out into public and spreading your artist germs - same goes for your opponent.

Categories include but not limited to:

Still life

Portrait

Landscape

The Dog

Lastly, post your best photo (and your opponent’s photo if applicable) for all the world to see - and for us to feature in an upcoming blog post!

Mark and I will be competing in the same battle with our kids this week, and we’ll post our results next week!

But for now, to get you inspired, here’s a time when I chose fighter #3 - disposable film camera - and took on a real life wedding.

And.

It.

Was.

AWESOME.

Love, K
